This year has been full of up cuts, a couple jabs and at least 3 punches that almost took me out! Yet each morning, I found new mercies, new grace and a whole lot to be thankful for in each day. This was my first year of hearing so much about Gratitude Journals or should I say this was the first year that I started using one. I found it valuable to count the small things as I was waiting for the "big" blessings. You know the lofty ones, the ones you can see, smell or taste but as close as they get the further away they seem. In taking in gratitude, here's what I learned:
1. It all matters. When you count the little ones day by day they add up and before you know it, you have it better than you thought.
2. Don't try and figure it out. Letting go and understanding that you don't have all of the answers is critical to your success. When I let go of what "success" looked like, it appeared sweeter than I could have imagined it.
3. Try to write at least 3 things everyday. Even if this is on your phone be conscious of the things that you are grateful for. Practicing daily gratitude will help you to stay motivated and focused.
Practicing gratitude is like anything else, the more grateful you are, the more you'll have to be grateful for. As you prepare to end your year with a flourishing finish. Start with all of the things that you have been grateful for this year.
In loving gratitude,
